Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Seek First ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Seek First. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

Description of Service

Seek First is a digital wellbeing tool designed for personal use. The App helps you manage your phone usage by voluntarily restricting access to selected apps until you complete your daily scripture study goal in Gospel Library.

Important: Seek First is a self-regulation tool. Results vary by individual, and we make no guarantees about behavior change, habit formation, or reduction in phone usage. Your success depends on your personal commitment and use of the App.

Subscription Terms

Free Version

Basic features of Seek First are available at no cost.

Premium Subscription

Additional features are available through Seek First Premium, offered as an in-app purchase:

  • Billing: Premium subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and charged to your Apple ID account
  • Free trial: A free trial may be offered for first-time subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will automatically be charged for a subscription
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Billing grace period: Apple may apply a billing grace period. During this time, you retain access to premium features while Apple attempts to collect payment
  • Refunds: All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be directed to Apple, not Seek First. We cannot issue refunds for subscriptions

Managing Your Subscription

To view, change, or cancel your subscription:

  1. Open iPhone Settings
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap "Subscriptions"
  4. Select "Seek First"
  5. Make your desired changes

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will not receive a partial refund for unused time.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Seek First only for lawful, personal purposes. You must not:

  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Circumvent or attempt to bypass the App's blocking features
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the App
  • Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to interact with the App

Screen Time Permissions

Seek First requires permission to use Apple's Screen Time API to block apps. This permission is requested when you first set up the App.

  • You control this permission through your iPhone Settings at any time
  • Without Screen Time permission, the App cannot block apps (though you can still track your study progress)
  • We are not responsible for malfunctions or changes to Apple's Screen Time framework
  • If iOS updates affect Screen Time functionality, we will work to update the App, but we make no guarantees of uninterrupted service

User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Choosing appropriate apps to restrict
  • Setting realistic study goals
  • Ensuring you can access critical apps (phone, messages, emergency services) when needed
  • Disabling blocking if you need immediate access to restricted apps

Emergency Access: You can disable Screen Time permissions in iOS Settings at any time to immediately regain access to all apps. Seek First is not intended to prevent emergency access to your device.

Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Guarantees of uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Accuracy or reliability of any content or information

We do not guarantee that:

  • The App will help you reduce phone usage or change your habits
  • The App will always function correctly with future iOS updates
  • Apple's Screen Time API will continue to operate as currently designed
  • Third-party services (Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat) will remain available

Not Medical or Therapeutic: Seek First is not a medical device, mental health tool, or therapeutic intervention. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. If you struggle with compulsive phone use or digital addiction, please consult a qualified mental health professional.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEEK FIRST AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, settings, or configurations
  • Inability to access restricted apps in emergencies or urgent situations
  • Changes to Apple's APIs, policies, or Screen Time functionality
  • Interruptions or errors in service
  • Third-party service failures (Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat)
  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities

IF YOU HAVE A DISPUTE WITH US, OUR MAXIMUM TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR SEEK FIRST SUBSCRIPTIONS IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS LESS).

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability for incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, these limitations may not apply to you.

Termination

Your Right to Terminate

You may stop using Seek First at any time by:

  • Deleting the App from your device
  • Cancelling your subscription (see "Managing Your Subscription" above)
  • Requesting account deletion via support@seekbeforescroll.app

Our Right to Terminate

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior
  • Attempt to harm or compromise the App or our systems

Termination does not entitle you to a refund from Apple for any remaining subscription time.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email (if provided). Your continued use of Seek First after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

We will update the "Effective date" at the top of this document when changes are made.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Seek First shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of these courts.

Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Seek First regarding your use of the App.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
